KERASTASE Blond Absolu Masque Ultra-Violet Purple Hair Mask 200ml

Kérastase Blond Absolu Masque Ultra-Violet is a purple conditioning mask for blonde, bleached and highlighted hair that has turned yellow. Violet pigment sits opposite yellow on the colour wheel, so it cancels yellow tones; it will not correct orange. Kérastase says to leave it on for 3 to 5 minutes.

How it works

The mask carries violet and red dyes (Acid Violet 43 and Acid Red 52) in a conditioning base of cetearyl alcohol and a cationic conditioner, with hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate) and ascorbyl glucoside. The base is rich, so the dye stays in contact with the hair longer than a shampoo and conditions at the same time. It also contains mineral oil.

Who it suits

• Blonde, bleached, highlighted or balayage hair that has warmed up to yellow
• Dry blonde hair that needs conditioning and toning in the same step

What it will not do

• It will not fix orange. Orange needs a blue-based toner from a salon.

Good to know

It contains fragrance, including citrus oil, limonene and linalool. On very light or white hair, a long leave-on can leave a faint lilac cast, so start with 3 minutes. Wash your hands after use, as the dye can temporarily stain.

Pair it with

• Bain Ultra-Violet: the purple shampoo for stronger toning
• Bain Lumière: a hydrating shampoo for the other washes

Step 1: Apply to shampooed and towel-dried hair. Massage lengths and ends.

Step 2: Leave on for 3 to 5 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse.

In case of direct contact with eyes, rinse thoroughly with water. Avoid eye contact. Adult use only.
